The drought has severely hit communities across the Gedo Region of Somalia

Today, the situation in Bardheere District is particularly alarming.

Families who once depended on seasonal rains and local water sources are now facing an acute shortage of water. Rivers have dried up, shallow wells are no longer functional, and people are forced to travel long distances every day in search of water.

Women and children are the most affected.
They spend hours waiting for water trucks or collecting unsafe water, risking their health and safety. Livestock one of the main sources of livelihood are dying, and this is pushing already vulnerable households deeper into poverty.

The lack of clean and reliable water has increased the risk of waterborne diseases, malnutrition, and displacement. For many families in Bardheere, access to safe drinking water has become a daily struggle for survival.

There is an urgent and critical need for sustainable water solutions.
The construction of water wells and boreholes is essential to save lives, restore dignity, and build resilience against recurring droughts.

Immediate support is needed.
Access to clean water is not a luxury, it is a basic human right.

The people of Bardheere are sincerely calling for help.
Now is the time to act.
