The overarching goal of this project is to promote environmental awareness, education, and sustainable practices among communities across Somalia, particularly in the Southwest state.
Key components of the Environmental Education Project include:
Developing age-appropriate environmental education curricula and learning materials for schools
Training teachers and educators on effective delivery of environmental education
Organizing community-based awareness campaigns and workshops on topics such as waste management, water conservation, and renewable energy
Establishing eco-clubs and youth-led environmental initiatives to foster environmental stewardship
Supporting the government’s efforts to integrate environmental education into national policies and education frameworks
Leveraging media and digital platforms to reach a wider audience with environmental messages
Through this collaborative effort, WARO and its partners aim to empower Somali communities, especially youth and children, to become active agents of change in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.
